Ribeira Sacra, candidate to the World Heritage List

Welcome to this web designed to make visible thousands of years of history and work of the people who lived and live here, who came together in the creation of this unique territory known internationally as Ribeira Sacra.

Following its declaration as a cultural property in the category of Cultural Landscape by the Xunta de Galicia in 2018, in 2019 was approved by the Spanish Historical Heritage Council as the spanish nomination to World Heritage List.

This web contains useful data on the maps of the delimitation, a synthetic description of the main elements of the declaration, as well as images and virtual tours of the religious heritage of the Ribeira Sacra.

We hope that the information provided will allow you to initiate an approximation to the extraordinary values of this area, a unique example of the joint action of people and nature, while encouraging the respectful enjoyment of this territory that Galicians want to share with the rest of the world.
